Saturday Climbing rota #2

CS accompanied freshers on Saturday mornings and not seen that there are many people who turn up. Discussed the benefits of doing less regular but more intense sessions where committee accompany freshers e.g. Beginners climbing session. At start of S2 will start off with multiple sessions for Refreshers to help integrate members before structured sessions becoming less regular. Possibility of catching a later train as early train could put some people off. Flip side is that committee then have to commit to whole day. Decided that we can do structured sessions at a later time to entice more people.

Committee to accompany freshers on Saturday mornings when there are structured sessions – sessions will be less regular and therefore require maximum committee attendance when there is one

MG able to commit to more Saturday morning sessions as will have more time in S2

34

Bath Climbing wall

Ascent UK- George Bridgwater has been in contact with the owners. Looking to open around September 2020 at a site in Odd Down (although location not 100% confirmed). Possibility of BUMC forming a partnership with Ascent and could get a discount. BUMC to support planning application and get SU involved.

CS and RH to continue liaising with Ascent UK for updates. CS to speak to SU to obtain their support on planning application

35

S2 Trip Plans

Lots more trips planned for S2. CS added trips to calendar. Possibility of a bigger trip to Dartmoor including orienteering climbing and walking.

Discussed possibility of orienteering combining with BUCS climbing hut in Sheffield.

No subsidy needed if trips are just one night.

Cycle to TCA – RC to organise

Committee to let CS know when trips are officially booked in

FL to do a social media calendar/poster to show what is on in S2

MP- update on Welfare and Inclusivity

Document been filled in. Accessibility at AGM discussed- need to add notes on accessibility when event is created. Sober socials have happened as well as a women’s only climbing event.

MP- Welfare is a separate thing and wants to bring these ideas back to the club. Idea of having a Google Doc where members can post on any issues they have and relevant person can get in contact. Is a good idea to have a forum where people can share their insights anonymously. Better to be done through the SU to ensure confidentiality.

JB to organise women’s bouldering session in S2

RC to add notes on accessibility to walks on SU website

MP to organise forum to discuss any issues

MP- New orienteering committee member role

A separate orienteering member was voted against at the AGM last year, however MP is currently juggling Welfare and Inclusivity and orienteering. Whilst it is a more minor role at the moment, there needs to be a dedicated committee member in charge. Size of committee shouldn’t be any bigger than 15 so can change one voting member to an orienteering secretary. Remaining voting member can then be a more experienced member who can offer an advisory role.

Orienteering BUCS kit- can have ‘BUMC’ on the back and ‘Orienteering Team’ on the sleeve

Committee to propose changing one Voting Member position to “Orienteering Sec”, decided by members vote at AGM in S2.

Update to Voting Member Job Description also to be proposed at AGM.

REC- Review S1 Spending

All going well using the new app and money saving efforts have been successful. BUMC to receive member bonus as exceeded member target. Ledger in app makes it hard to see what money goes in and out so need to keep track.

For S2 trips, need to fill out new money trip budget form and then CS to sign it off. Form will go on Google Drive

Trip organisers to liaise with REC &/or CS and fill out money trip budget form

CS to speak to Tom Sawko regarding member bonus
