Closed Captioning software available for you to download!

I’m pleased to say that the University of Bath have subscribed to Caption.Ed. This is a highly accurate automatic closed captioning tool which can be used to support your academic studies. It is installed as a Google Chrome web browser extension and will caption any audio played through web browsers. It also allows you to download the text file of the captions. This is something we have been lobbying for in order to make education here at Bath more accessible.

More information can be found here - www.bath.ac.uk/campaigns/get-video-and-audio-captions-with-caption-ed/

How to gain access?

Student Services have already contacted anyone known to them through the disability service to offer this software, however, if you feel like you should have been contacted and haven’t, please get in touch with the disability service at disabilityadvice@bath.ac.uk

Ensuring that education is accessible is one of my key priorities, from accessing education to the ways it is delivered and assessed. When everything went online back in March some of the key issues that students with disabilities had been lobbying for previously – such as recorded lectures, suddenly became the new norm. It isn’t right that these barriers exist and we should all be working together to call out barriers, highlighting the importance of accessible education.
