I’m Nic, your new Activities Officer and I can’t wait to see what the year ahead holds!

My first 2 weeks were taken over by handover, where The SU staff team and outgoing Officers taught us everything there is to know about all things SU. From governance and strategy, to the who’s who in The SU (and University). The information overload had steam coming out of my ears but also put us in a great position to start our roles.

I want to take a moment to thank Sam, your encouragement and guidance have had an impact that cannot be understated and being able to refer back to your 80 page handover has been a blessing. While I will never be able to fill your shoes, I hope I can carry on your legacy and keep championing the amazing projects you started in your time here. Tusen Tack!

Since handover, I’ve gathered my thoughts and am slowly getting used to 9-5 living. I’ve been getting some of my projects off the ground whilst others are now in full swing.

I’ve had the pleasure of working with our wonderful Societies team to start preparations for Freshers Week, the return of our student groups and the introduction of our newly affiliated ones.

We’re now well underway with our Top 10 process, supported by the Voice team, to select our key actionable priorities for the year ahead.

The Sustainability Team have welcomed me with open arms onto a variety of groups looking at sustainability and climate change and how the University can adapt for both the long & short-term futures.

The above points are just a snapshot of the things I’ve been getting up to. There are so many things I want to achieve this year, but more importantly, I want to hear from you! Drop me an email, book in a meeting with me or swing by to either 1E 3.21 or The Edge!

Finally, with my knees fully healed from my antics during campaign week, you’ll be shocked to find out that I have in fact, been dancing!

Nic

<a10:updated>2026-08-18T17:17:36+01:00</a10:updated>
