Event: Trip to Lacock & Castle Combe

Saturday 07 October 2017 at 9:30am - 4:30pm

Lacock & Castle Combe

This trip gives you the opportunity to see two of the prettiest, most historic villages in the South West in one day. The coach will drop you at Lacock Village where you will have a chance to visit the town and tour the Abbey. You will then be transferred to Castle Combe to explore the village.

Lacock Village dates back to the 13th century and remains largely unchanged over the centuries: a wonderful example of English architecture with half-timbered buildings and lime-washed façades. This is an unmissable trip into the British countryside, just 10 miles from Bath. Enjoy the atmosphere of this beautiful village, regularly chosen for film sets including Harry Potter and Pride and Prejudice. Lacock is also home to photography - Fox Talbot created the first photographic negative in 1835, which was taken of a small window at his home, Lacock Abbey. The trip includes free entry into both the Abbey and the Fox Talbot Museum.

Castle Combe has been called 'The Prettiest Village in England' and with good reason; visitors have been coming to enjoy its charms for at least a century and the small street leading from the Market Cross down to the By Brook is as picturesque today as it ever was. You will have time to explore the village at your leisure.

Tickets are just £9 including all travel and entry to Lacock Abbey and the Fox Talbot Museum.
