.com/events/6202/23206/
\n
Welcome to kayaking!!!</
p>
We&rsquo\;re the best sports club in Bath (even if
we do say so ourselves!). While we spend plenty of time doing exciting th
ings like whitewater kayaking and canoe polo tournaments around the count
ry\, we also spend lots of time learning and practising skills in the nic
e\, warm university pool.

So\, how can you get involved?</s
trong>

This pool taster session is for women and non-binary
people who want to come and try kayaking in a relaxed\, friendl
y environment.

Kayaking has historically been quite male-dominated\
, and we&rsquo\;re working to change that - just look at our committee! A
s a club\, we run regular women&rsquo\;s and non-binary pool sess
ions\, giving you the chance to learn new skills\, get more focu
sed support\, and have a good chat about all things kayaking (and life!)
in a welcoming atmosphere.

We&rsquo\;re also building a portfolio o
f female river and whitewater leaders\, so there will be
opportunities throughout the year to join focused trips and develop your
skills further. And\, of course\, you&rsquo\;re always welcome to join o
ur usual club sessions\, trips and socials too!

What to exp
ect

All abilities welcome - wheth
er you&rsquo\;ve never been in a kayak before or have paddled for years.<
/p>

Taster sessions are held in the university pool in
the STV throughout Freshers&rsquo\; Week and the following two
weeks.

Bring a swimming costume\, shorts and T-shi
rt to wear in the pool\, plus a towel and change of clot
hes for afterwards.

Meet outside the STV
entrance 15 minutes before your session - look out for the paddl
es!

Before getting in a kayak\, the university requires ev
eryone to complete a swim test. We&rsquo\;ll run this at
the start of the pool taster session. You&rsquo\;ll need to:

Swim two lengths of the pool (100m total)

Tread water for 5 minutes

Cli
mb out of the pool unassisted

Want to know more?

For all our taster session times and fu
rther information\, check the What&rsquo\;s On page and
the Bath Uni Canoe Club socials.

If you have any q
uestions\, feel free to drop us an email via our club page (su-canoe@bath.ac.uk)\, conta
ct our Ladies Rep\, Izzy Kitchen (iak38)\, or our <stron
g>Welfare &amp\; Inclusivity Officer\, Quinn O&rsquo\;Malley (qom20)</str
ong>.

Or\, if you spot us on a sofa at Happy Hour\, come and say hi
! 😊
