Event: #FREE PERIODS
On Friday 01 March 2019 at 8am - 8pm
Location: Library, 10W, CB Level 1, the SU
Minervas has launched a campaign to alleviate period poverty in Bath. From 1st March, there will be red boxes around campus for you to donate santitary products to, which will then be distributed to charities that help women in need.
1 in 10 young women in the UK live in period poverty, meaning they are not able to afford sanitary products. Because of this, they miss valuable time at school, seeing their friends and being empowered to be the best person they can be. We don't think this is on.
Minervas has launched a campaign to alleviate period poverty in Bath. From 1st March until the next academic year, there will be red boxes around campus for you to donate santitary products to, which will then be distributed to charities that help women in need. Red boxes will be in the ground floor of the library, by the newspapers, in 10 west foyer, in the SU, and in CB Level 1 by the toilets. Please, if you see these bins, donate. Can't find them? Just email us and let us know.
We're also looking for volunteers to keep an eye on and help to distribute products to the charities we have affiliations with, once a month (begining of April, begining of May, beining of June, begining of July and August and so on). Volunteering with Minervas as part of the period campaign will also count towards Bath awards/ Llyods scholarships etc. Please email us if you would like to help distribute products to any of the charities below, on any of the dates mentioned (firstname.lastname@example.org) or find us on facebook (facebook.com/groups/bathminervas).
