Mini Camp is when you will able to wear pads and a helmet and get involved in fully kitted drills. The drills are more in-depth and position specific than the Taster Session and there will be a game of the team offense vs defense on the Sunday.
Mini Camp is the next step to playing for the Killer Bees, it gives you the opportunity to try out a variety of different positions before choosing the position that is best suited for you. Our qualified, insured and experienced coaches will be there to help get the best out of you, guide you in choosing a position and speed up the learning curve, to what is a new sport to the majority of people. The Saturday session will mainly involve individual drills improving your foundations of the game.
In the morning there will be multiple stations which will be a more in-depth equivalent of the Taster Session and give the coaches a chance to see what you can do. Lunch will be at 1230-1330, you can either bring your own lunch or go away for lunch. In the afternoon, it will be your first chance to wear kit and properly find a position that suits you.
It is essential that you attend both days of Mini Camp as the skills learnt in the first day are invaluable for the heavy contact drills and match on the second day.
You will need to bring:
- An Opaque gumshield
- Football Boots suitable for grass (Football and rugby boots are fine)
- Lunch (Can leave and get food on campus for this session)
- A drink (it's a long session so bring plenty!)
- Appropriate sports clothing
- A completed Health Form
To get to the American football pitch from campus accommodation: Walk past the outside the STV along the main road into campus and carry on until you see the all weather pitches on your left, walk to the far side of the fenced all weather pitches, turn left and walk down the side of them until you see a grass pitch with a wooden fence around it. A map can be found here. Players will be on hand to point you in the right direction.
