Meet the Team

Freshers' week managers and captains are a group of students that are here to ensure you have the best Freshers’ possible. You’ll see the managers around campus wearing purple t-shirts and the captains in green t-shirts.

They'll be there to look out for you during the daytime and evening events, from helping you move in to scoping out the best spots on campus to grab a bite to eat. They’ll be there to support you and show what the SU and the university has to offer!

Look out for posts on socials as they will have the best tips on how to make the most out of Freshers’ week.

Why did you apply to be a FWEM?

Freshers Week was a really enjoyable week for me back when I came to Bath in 2023. I did exactly what I set out to do; meet new lifelong friends, try new stuff, get use to my academic community and successfully trial for a BUCS football team. I want everyone who comes to Bath to experience the same warm welcome I did and enjoy the wide range of fun activities the campus and city has to offer.

Favourite SU Memory?

Every Christmas, I look forward to attending the Snowball. It's always a fun and memorable event where I can celebrate every successful with my teammates and enjoy the festive atmosphere.

Drink of Choice?

I'm a Somerset lad through and through, so has to be a cold Sheppys Cider.

Go to Uni Meal?

Chicken and Tomato Pasta with Tender stem Broccoli for dinner but LOVE a cheese and ham toastie.

Top Tip for Incoming Freshers?

Everyone is in the same boat, put yourself out there and find your community. Be safe, be sensible but have a blast.

What are you most looking forward to about FW25?

Definitely The Challenge Zone event. The trailblazing, 1st of its kind here at Bath. In the Founders Hall, you'll find challenges where you can compete against your new friends, have you got what it takes?

Why did you apply to be a FWEM?

Being able to contribute to thousands of students’ Freshers’ Week is such an awesome opportunity, and I wanted to give students’ the best introduction to Bath possible, while having events where students can find their people, from as early on as possible.

Favourite SU Memory?

It sounds rogue, but working the Summer Ball last year was so much fun! Being a small cog in such a huge machine was awesome, and getting a glimpse of how such a massive event is organised and ran made me so excited for our Freshers' Week this year!

Drink of Choice?

I go absolutely feral for a crisp-cold Pepsi Max - don't get me started on the Coca Cola v Pepsi debate. Pepsi Max all day long. (Lucky for us Pepsi Max addicts, it's on tap in the Plug :P)

Go to Uni Meal?

I love a cheeky fajita, any combo of protein - but needs to be spicy!

Top Tip for Incoming Freshers?

Take the time to look into all of the events we have on our Freshers' What’s On[hyperlink pls] page (Extra tip: use the filters so as to not be overwhelmed by the sheer quantity) - pick through the events and make sure you don't miss out on any events perfectly tailored for you. We've even made some example templates of what a jam-packed Freshers' Week could look like! Check them out here (coming soon..)

What are you most looking forward to about FW25?

Seeing our summer’s work come to fruition - new students from all over coming together and being able to watch them start to make lifelong connections in real-time.
