Faith & Cultural Societies
The SU has a range of faith and cultural societies which all students are welcome to join, whether you'd like to meet students from a similar background or learn more about other cultures and traditions:

The Chaplaincy on campus (to the right of the library) is open to students of all faiths and no faith, to offer counsel, advice or just a listening ear. You can find more information about the Chaplaincy, local churches, the Muslim prayer room, weekly events, faith groups and other activities here.
The Skills Centre offers free language courses for students delivered by qualified and experienced native speaker teachers. You can learn all languages from beginner level and classes are available during the day or evening to fit your timetable. Classes are offered in Arabic, Brazilian Portuguese, Mandarin, French, German, Italian, Japanese and Spanish.

Peer-Assisted Learning (PAL) for Languages (including English)
Students trained as PAL leaders who are native (or near-native) speakers of English or foreign languages (offered by the Skills Centre, above) facilitate regular study groups of students. These free sessions provide opportunities for students to come together and improve their language skills with guidance from other students. Find out more and register your interest here.
