Details

We are looking for a number of Postgraduate Student Ambassadors to support the work of the International Recruitment team and different teams across the university. The work will help support the recruitment of students onto Postgraduate courses at Bath.

The International recruitment team works mainly with current undergraduate students to help them understand life and studying at Bath as a Postgraduate student. 

About the role

Postgraduate Student Ambassadors work on events, both digitally and in person, interacting with potential Masters' students at the University of Bath. Ambassadors could be asked to contribute either written or video content based on their time in Bath and chat with prospective students via university led chat platforms. Ambassadors may also be asked to contribute to social media posts and may be included in promotional videos and pictures for the University. 

This a great opportunity for those who are looking to go on and work in leadership roles, and is a chance to improve presentation skills, social skills and be part of an active community of ambassadors. 

Ambassadors act as a role model to students to help raise awareness of what it’s like to study at the University of Bath. 

Duties

Taking part in our Postgraduate Virtual Open Days - live chat and webinars

Corresponding with potential Postgraduate students via email and digital platforms

Producing blogs/vlogs for use on the University’s social media 

Giving tours of the University campus to prospective students

Imparting information and answering questions relating to life as a student at university, the application process and budgeting and finance to students.

Assisting with occasional administrative work. 

Other ad-hoc ambassador work as required

Person Specification

Essential

Desirable

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills 

Experience of presenting to large groups

Ability to work independently and as part of a team 

Strong interest in blog writing

Sound understanding of social media 

Previous experience working as an ambassador or mentor 

Ability to engage with, and enthuse a wide range of students 

Strong interest in video filming and editing

Able to use initiative, to problem solve and work creatively 

 

Have joined the University for Postgraduate study in 2023/4

 

To be open-minded, flexible and approachable 

 

Good grasp of written English

 

To act as an ambassador for the University in your conduct and manner

This role will allow you to improve your presentation, digital and communication skills and to be a part of an active community of supportive ambassadors. 

Many companies look at ambassadorial roles as a sign of leadership and willing to get involved with helping others. 

This role will also help to improve your problem-solving and social skills as you meet and talk with many potential students. 

There is also an opportunity to get more heavily involved in producing video, blogs and photos for use on the University social media and our website. This an opportunity to build your digital skills and create a body of work to enhance your CV when looking for full-time employment following your studies. 

Hours: There will be opportunities to work on various events throughout the year and you can sign up to work to fit around your timetable and availability. We are looking for people who are committed and prepared to sign up regularly and work on one-off events and ongoing projects over a number of weeks. 

The work may, occasionally, be outside of regular hours and outside the locality of the University of Bath. 

Period: On-going 

Payment: £12.00 per hour
