BUCS Super Rugby At The Rec - 18/10/2017
On Wednesday 18th October, the University of Bath Mens 1st XV will be playing Loughborough University at the Recreation Ground in a clash in the BUCS Super Rugby that you do not want to miss!
ILast time Bath played at the Rec, victory went to the University of Bath after a hard-thought battle ended with a 17-14 win over Leeds Beckett University, with tries coming from centre Charlie Dunbar and prop Alex Wood. After nearly 5000 people attended last year’s takeover of the Rec, the atmosphere and anticipation for this game is electric and is talk of campus.
Bath’s opponents, Loughborough University, will be looking for a win to cement their challenge for the BUCS title after finishing 3rd in the Super Rugby last season. Already with a win over previous champions Hartpury, Loughborough look to be a dominant threat to the Bath XV. Hopefully, Will Britton (Uni of Bath captain) can lead the boys to a victory, with the Rec being the perfect venue for victory.
Bath’s start to the Super Rugby kicked off with a last second defeat at the hands of Leeds Beckett, and with a loss to Durham to follow, Bath will be wanting to get the ball rolling with a win over Loughborough. Momentum will be key for coach Aaron James, as a win would show Bath as a dominant threat to the title this season.
The last meeting between the two teams resulted in a 38-10 loss for Bath, with a try from winger Dan Rowland not enough to prevent Loughborough from winning in a triumphant manner. Bath will surely want to avenge this result and will be making sure that the win is secured. Charlie Dunbar scored at the Rec last year, so hopefully maybe the result from last year can be recreated.
URB has the pleasure to once again cover the event! URB will be providing commentary for the game with full rugby analysis, discussion and of course that touch of URB class and banter. We also have a live show broadcasting from the Rec, with touchline interviews and regular updates of the course (if you don’t come to the Rec that is). And as always, we will be providing the tunes for you to celebrate or commiserate over – let’s not wish for the latter. If you aren't at the game, then listen in at http://player.broadcastradio.com/university-radio-bath
