The URBig Weekend for Teenage Cancer Trust
To mark the 45th Birthday of University Radio Bath (URB), a few of our presenters have decided to take on an almighty challenge. From Friday 13th to Sunday 15th April, URB will be broadcasting a live 45-hour marathon show to raise money for charity.
Elliott Martin, Will Kaye and Mitch Thorngate will be on air for the entire weekend, bringing you chat, music, games, interviews, competitions and loads more. You’ll be able to watch them in action too, with the entire show being live streamed by our studio cameras.
The show will be raising money for the Teenage Cancer Trust, who do inspirational work to make sure young people have the care and support they need when facing cancer. Around seven young people aged between 13 and 24 are diagnosed with cancer every day, and Teenage Cancer Trust are there to help every step of the way. The cause takes on personal significance for one of our presenters, Elliott Martin, after his step-brother Josh was diagnosed with sarcoma (soft tissue cancer) last year. Since that day, Teenage Cancer Trust have provided fantastic support during his treatment, so raising money from the show is Elliott & URB’s way of saying thank you.
Everyone in URB is getting involved, with special editions of your favourite shows being broadcast especially for our URBig Weekend! From Morning Glory with your regulars, all the way to specialist programming such as 'In The Mix With Niks' or 'URB Spotlight - all your favourites will be there for this once in a URB lifetime event! We even have the return of some URB Classics such as Alphabeats.
