Committee 2014 - 2015

Chair

David Clare

As club chairman this year I'll be talking to the Student's Union a lot so that we are allowed to take all you lovely people away on trips, and signing lots of forms for things! I'll also be trying to make sure that everyone in the club is happy doing what they are doing. I've been in the club for 4 years so if you have any questions I'm probably a good person to ask, you can usually find me in the kitchen!

Treasurer

Klara Marsikova

Hi, I am Klara, third year Nat Sci and your treasurer this year. I started climbing in my first year and quickly became addicted to the sport, but I am up for any good outdoor adventure. I will be happy to answer any questions about finances or the club in general, so come and find me or drop me an email. I look forward to seeing you on one of our trips or in the pub on Thursday!

Secretary

Ross Arthur

I’m Ross, a second year Natural Sciences student, and I will be club secretary this year. Climbing is the area I find most interesting but I also enjoy scrambling and the odd bit of walking. Before joining the club I had only climbed outdoors a handful of times but this year I plan to try doing some trad. I will be dealing with a lot of the organisation for the club so if you do have any general questions then let me know.

Climbing Secretary

Beth McKendrick

Hey I’m Beth and I’m a final year pharmacology student. I’m your climbing sec this year and it’s my job to promote climbing within the club. Whether you’re a complete novice or a seasoned adventurer there’ll be plenty of sessions, trips and competitions for you to get involved with. If you’re totally new to the sport or you’d like a refresher, come along to the beginner belay sessions we run at the start of term at RedPoint in Bristol. If you’d like to take it to the next level we’ll also be running learn to lead sessions indoors and out, in both Traditional and Sport climbing. If you’re not so good with heights our bouldering sessions at TCA in Bristol are super social and are a great way to meet people while you’re working on the problems. If you fancy something a bit different we also run a winter walking and climbing trip in Scotland every year. Whatever skills you fancy trying out or improving, I’m here to help! You don’t need any prior knowledge, equipment or particularly good upper body strength! If you’d like to find out more or just chat about where the good local rock is, drop me a line or catch me down the pub.

Walking Secretary

Alex Stoeker

Hello Mountaineers! My name is Alex, a second year German and Spanish student and your go to person for anything walking related this year. Originally from Devon, Dartmoor is my stomping ground which has given me plenty of experience of walking in adverse weather conditions and a love for walking, camping and everything outdoorsy. If you have any queries or suggestions about weekend walking trips, day walks or anything else please do not hesitate to get in touch!

Gear Secretary

Liz Randall

Hello, I’m Liz and I’m a second year Chemical Engineering Student and your gear secretary this year. Consequently I’ll be spending my time ensuring you all have the equipment needed for all excursions and then pestering you to give it all back, of course with interest paid in chocolate to me! I’ve been climbing for about 6 years primarily locally, but wouldn’t say no to a good hike. If you have any questions about gear or just want a chat about climbing or the club please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Social Secretary

Helen Sandford

Hi my names Helen. I'm this years social sec! I'll be organising a variety of socials throughout the year. I'm always available for a chat and usually wont stop talking! You can always find me at the weekly pub trip but don't hesitate to message me if you want to know more about the club or if you want to give me any social ideas!

Web Secretary

Oliver Gibson

I’m Oliver/Ollie/Olly/Oli/Ol, a 3rd year physics student and web secretary for the club. I was web secretary last year and this year will continue my quest to not crash the website in a game of digital Jenga, where every edit is a risky edit. I do this by not touching it unless I absolutely must, which is usually in mid August when nobody will notice if anything goes wrong. Despite being lowly Web Sec I am in fact omniscient and as such feel free to ask me about anything at all really.

Voting Member

Tris Vye

Hi everyone, I'm Tris. I'm a final year chemical engineering student and have been in the club for 4 years now. I'm on the committee to help out as well as to lend members my experience. I'm a keen climber as well as enjoying the occasional walk. If anyone's got any questions or fancies a climb feel free to get in contact!
