Peak District Trip, 1st to 3rd November 2019

Hello everyone, and welcome back to another Rob Haseler Specialtrip report (Peaks Edition).

I’m not one to break tradition, and so I made sure to book in one day of rain for this trip. The delivery came exactly on time, and so many of us spent Saturday morning watching England get absolutely rammed by South Africa in the Rugby World Cup. Nelson Mandela would truly have been proud. A splinter group decided they'd rather go walking (on a climbing trip!), and so they went off somewhere "family friendly" and got damp. I think they had fun? They're all smiling in the pictures at least.

We spent the rest of Saturday doing a spot of non-descript indoor climbing, followed by festivities in the evening. In a surprising turn of events, Sam Edmans stopped choking out Dave White to win the carboard box game. Inspiring.

Sunday brought sun and mist over the Peak District, and everyone was up bright and early to make the most of the moist morning rock. We decided to go on a mad one and ended up at Stanage Popular – really breaking the mould here guys! Many classics were climbed - none of them were very challenging. I myself dogged my way up a VS! Very impressive, I'm sure you'll all agree.

We also had some members go on their first trad leads, with my very own Janek among them. One day, you may also find yourself having to rap down 8 metres off a mossy chossy VDiff in Dartmoor. Many great adventures lie ahead for you.

The boulderers ended up at Curbar I believe (I could be wrong here) and climbed some stuff. I heard that much of it was challenging. Good stuff, chaps.

Another Peaks Trip over, and another cold and wet winter ahead of us. Time to train, I guess?

Until next time.
