Taekwondo Club win national Taekwondo Club of the Year

Congratulations to the University of Bath Taekwondo Club, which has won the national University Taekwondo Club of the Year Award 2017-18!

Congratulations to the University of Bath Taekwondo Club, which has won University Taekwondo Club of the Year Award 2017-18!

With about 600 athletes from over 50 universities competing, members of our team came home with over 50 medals and also managed to win Club of the Year 2017-18. The Director of the British Student Taekwondo Federation, Colin West, praised their performance, stating that “the award was highly competitive this year, with Bath’s club coming out on top across the 37 scored categories, prevailing over some of the highest quality submissions received to date.”

If that wasn’t enough, not only did they manage to come 6th place in the final team rankings, but the team also increased their ranking by 32 places since 2016-17!

Colin West has also given an honourable mention to the club for their success outside of this competition:“The club’s competition results were matched by – and no doubt enhanced by – other club management successes, including their fundraising activities, collaborations with their SU and department for sport, medal wins achieved across multiple class (experience) levels, medal wins achieved across multiple disciplines, delivering a multi-discipline training offer for their members, and a very impressive percentage increase in new members joining the club this year”

Huge congratulations to all of the Taekwondo team, committee and coaches on this commendable performance, we’re looking forward to seeing what’s in store for the next academic year!
