On 21 April, students and local residents came together to enjoy an unconventional Saturday night at a Community Barn Dance. Jointly organised by The SU Bath, Bath Spa Students' Union and the Student Community Partnership (SCP), over 60 people attended the lively barn dance at Oldfield Park Baptist Church.
V Team, The SU’s student volunteering group, hosted the evening with a performance from Bath Spa's Big Band Society.
Anastasia Dal, V Team Project Leader said “It was a pleasure organising the event, the whole team was very involved and helpful”.
“I think V Team is doing a great job in promoting a community feel in Bath and I loved being a part of it. I hope more people will join next year!”
Students put on an evening filled with live music for all local residents to enjoy including performances from the Big Band Society and Giovanni L’Immigrato.
Kalyn Mallard, Community Liason Coordinator, SCP said “The SCP is proud to promote community events like the Barn Dance and helping to bring all residents in the community together”.
One guest said “I really enjoyed it! Dancing is always a good idea to bring people together.”
Another said that “the dancing was so much fun!”
The Community Barn Dance is just one of the ways The SU's student groups are involved in helping to enhance community spirit between students and local residents. Keep an eye out on our What’s On page for different events happening throughout the year.
