Help others and spread some winter cheer

If you're in Bath over the Christmas break and want to get involved with your local community, why not do some volunteering! There are lots of local charities and organisations who need extra help at this time of year. Volunteering is known to give you personal or CV-boosting skills and improve your wellbeing so it's a worthwhile way to spend your time.

Like knitting? From the comfort of your own sofa you can knit a children's teddy bear for the Red Cross. Or you could spend an hour or two supporting sustainabiltiy by doing web updates for local award-winning charity Share & Repair. Or perhaps chat to locals by volunteering in one of Bath's many charity shops.

So far this winter students have made Christmas cards and hampers for children, shared a smile with visitors as Bath Christmas Market welcome ambassadors, and made the streets cleaner during winter litter pics in Bathwick and Oldfield Park. Not forgetting the important fundraising that RAG's annual Santa Dash achieved!

For more to do during the Christmas break, see the SU Christmas Events webpage, and the Winter at the University of Bath webpage.
