The club was founded 7 years ago by a group of rugby players that wanted to offer a competitive alternative to the Rugby Union club at the University Bath in terms of both playing code and club culture. We put a strong emphasis on both achieving on-field success and providing an enjoyable off-field environment that welcomes and includes all club members.

We welcome players of all abilities and Rugby League experience and offer the environment and structure in which any player can learn, develop and achieve success. Past players, many of whom have been Rugby League newcomers when joining the Broncos, have gone on to earn full international caps, represent GB students and sign professional contracts.

Freshers and New Players

Many of our players have no Rugby League experience when they first join us so don't worry if you're new to the sport, you're completely welcome to come and learn this fantastic game. The best way to get involved with the club is to come along to a training session and meet the boys so take a look at all the training details below.

Sundays 17:00-19:00 on the Astros - meet by the STV benches outside the gym. This is our main training session each week.

Tuesdays 18:00-19:00 - Captains run-through on the 'Floodlit area' by Astros

Wednesdays - GAME DAY

Friday mornings 7:30-8:30 - Strength and conditioning in the STV Throws and Jumps Hall

We will also be having a regular hydrotherapy session each week on Thursdays for post-game (and Score) recovery.

The enjoyable and inclusive social environment that we provide is a huge part of being a Bronco. We host weekly socials on Wednesdays which everyone is welcome to attend with our sponsorship partner and second home at The Canon before heading up to campus for Score.

And beyond...

The Club was founded in 2010, and entered into the BUCS leagues for the first time in 2011/12. A very strong first season at this level led to promotion and the title of Champions of BUCS Wales and West Conference 2011/12. Further successes in this season was victory in varsity against a previously undefeated Exeter side 28-26. These team successes allowed individuals to go on and receive further representive honours, with 5 players being called up to represent South West Students. From these 5, 3 gained the honour of being selected for their country, representing England (Steven Taylor) and Scotland (Harry Chapman-Walker and Gavin Grant).

South West Students 2011/12 (Miles Dempsey, Joe McClean, Stephen Taylor, Gavin Grant, Harry Chapman-Walker)

The successes of this first competitive BUCS season were built on in 2012/13. Playing in National South for the first time, the team developed further and finished in  a respectable 4th position. Again, representive successes followed, with 4 students being selected for the South West squad. Two students (Miles Dempsey and Rhys Williams) achieved University Colours for their contribution to Rugby League.
