What We Do

The Comedy Writing Improvisation and Performance Society is the student run comedy society. If you are looking for opportunities to write, perform, direct or if you just enjoy watching comedy, CWIPS is the place to be!

Reasons to Join Us

Throughout the year at CWIPS, there are some fantastic opportunities to showcase new material through live shows, radio programs and filmed sketches. Providing occasions to act, write, improvise, direct and even to perform your own stand up.

We regularly run socials to see local and famous comedians (James Acaster, Mae Martin and Simon Amstel are all performing this semester!) in the Bath area. Our Facebook page details upcoming gigs and opportunities. We are a community of enthusiastic comedy fans, a great crowd to go to comedy gigs with. We even use proceeds from our own gigs to save you money on tickets!

We regularly run workshops on all aspects of writing and performance and occasionally invite professionals to lead them. This helps you to build and improve your skills, road-test your own creations and grow in confidence in a relaxed and supportive environment with other people who share your passion.

So if you like to laugh or to make other people laugh, join CWIPS!

Come & Meet Us

Come along to a workshop, every Thursday from 7-9pm in the Digital Arts Studio, The Edge, with our first workshop being held on October 5th.

New this year….You can get your first three workshops free before buying membership.

There is NO experience necessary!

If you are already sold on our society then ask to join our members-only Facebook group.
