What We Do

To all members: Once you have paid membership, please join our official members' Facebook group - https://www.facebook.com/groups/975465685844135/?fref=ts:. All of our events, trips, and socials will be advertised there, exclusive to our members.

Bath University Politics Society is the society for undergraduate and postgraduate students with an interest in Politics. The core of our membership is drawn from students on Politics courses, although we're keen to expand our membership and attract more students from other departments! Our aim is to promote political discussion and engagement from all students, while meeting some fun new people along the way.

Socials: We frequently organise amazing social events and nights out in Bath and on campus that will definitely help you get to know more people on your course. Be sure to join our members for a post-politics pint after speaker events! Last year, members enjoyed socials varying from Christmas and end of year formal dinners to themed club nights out.

External speaker events: We also host interesting speakers to give talks and engage you on numerous issues. In the past we have organised talks with London Mayoral candidate George Galloway, BBC Security correspondent Frank Gardner, former Minister Vince Cable, and former Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg, to name but a few. We look forward to welcoming many more engaging and provocative speakers this semester.

ISB trip: The society also embarks on trips throughout the year to destinations of political intrigue! In the past, we have organised Inter-Semester Break trips to Brussels, Dublin, Prague, Krakow and last year Berlin. This year we will be organising a trip to Budapest so make sure to keep a look out for tickets going on sale!

We have won the best Departmental Society of the Year award before and we're working hard to replicate this success for this academic year too!

Any questions please get in touch with any of our committee members (contact info below).

Reasons to Join Us

Politics students are some of the most fun and outgoing people on campus! Get all these people together and you'll always have a blast. Cue a compelling list of reasons to join this deluxe society:

  • Social nights to help you get the best of Bath's nightlife.
  • Opportunities to meet more course mates in a more informal atmosphere.
  • A huge pool of fellow students to give advice on modules choices and University logistics
  • Great trips to the far-flung corners of the world (or Europe). Previous visits include: Westminster, Berlin, Brussels, Krakow, Budapest and Prague.
  • Interesting guest speakers to broaden your understanding and engagement with important issues in Politics. Previous speakers range from a minister from the Japanese embassy, Nick Clegg, and the leader of the Monster Raving Loony Party!
