We guarantee that we can offer something for everyone, whether you are a complete beginner or very experienced rider!
We have both BUCS TEAMS and FRIENDLY TEAMS:
The BUCS teams compete against other universities in the South West aiming to qualify for Regional Championships and then onto the National Finals. The home ground and training facility for the BUCS teams is Summerhouse Equestrian Centre.
The Friendly Teams are based at Warminster Saddle Club. These teams compete against other universities in a friendly league and act as a feeder into the BUCS teams.
Teams have now been selected for the year!
For more information regarding Teams contact either Emily or Becca.
WEEKLY LESSONS: these are held at Warminster Saddle Club every Wednesday Afternoon - we usually have two one hour slots between 2pm and 4pm. These lessons are open to anyone, whether you wish to take up a new sport or want to improve your riding. Groups of up to 6 people, with similar ability levels will either take a short train journey to Warminster or someone may be able to drive there. These lessons cost £20 each time you go, however you have no obligation to go every week - you can go as much or as little as you like.
For more information regarding lessons contact Laura.
POLO: this year we will be playing Polo at Druids Lodge Polo Club. Lessons will hopefully be available on Wednesdays and Weekends. We are aiming to put teams together.
For more information regarding Polo, contact Jake or Becca.
TREKKING: We will be going to Wellow Trekking Centre again this year, which is just a 10/15 minute drive from campus. This is great for those who just want to get out and about and, like lessons, is available to any level of rider. You can go on Walk and Trot Treks or treks for the more advanced where you get to canter or gallop across open fields. We usually go trekking at weekends and book treks in advance.
For more information regarding Trekking, contact Laura.
TRAIL/LONG DISTANCE RIDING: We hope to introduce this to the Riding Club this year. We will go to the Pewsey Vale Riding Centre for this. This will only be on offer to the experienced rider as the horses can be extremely forward going and riders could be in the saddle from one day up to three days.
For more information regarding Trail/ Long distance Riding, contact Becca.
