What does the course involve?

The Thrive course consists of 3 weekly sessions, where we informally work through a structured workbook in a supportive group environment. Every week we will cover a different topics.

Below is an outline of the topics covered:

  • Improved wellbeing and improved understanding of what wellbeing and self care is
  • Increased knowledge of strategies for looking after your own wellbeing
  • Greater awareness around social support
  • Empowerment and personal development through sharing personal experiences

Who runs the course?

Each session will be informally run by two student volunteers, called ‘group facilitators’. The sessions are mainly group-led, meaning that the facilitators mostly take a back-seat role. The facilitators are there to make sure that there is time to cover the workbook content and to ensure that conversations remain supportive, non-judgmental and pro-recovery.

All group facilitators have received training for their role, however, it is important to stress that they are not trained counsellors and are not there to provide advice. What they hope to provide instead is support, understanding, and empathy.

Who is the course suitable for?

This course is suitable for you if you are currently a University of Bath student, are over 18 years old,

This means that we will not discuss attendees outside of the sessions and we will not reveal any details of what is discussed to anyone without your consent (including staff members).
