Student Volunteering Week 2018

 

From 19 - 25 February 2018 Student Volunteering Week is celebrating the contribution and impact of student volunteers and encouraging even more students to get involved.

What's On

All week: #iWill

#iwill is an amazing national campaign, aimed at involving 10-20 year olds in social action activities such as campaigning, fundraising and volunteering, and the SU has pledged to help: Our SU pledge

Georgiana Hunter-Cozens and her intrepid team of volunteers will be out and about on campus all week, raising awareness and collecting pledges of support.


Monday 19 February

On Campus

  • #MakeADifference Celebrate our amazing volunteers, and find out about current volunteering opportunities in our area. 11am - 2pm on the Parade.
  • Volunteering Fair - Meet lots of student groups and charities:
    V Team - Bath Marrow - Food Drop - Coppafeel - British Red Cross - Great Western Air Ambulance - Dorothy House - Forever Friends Appeal - Alzheimer’s Society – Mencap - Student Minds - Macmillan. 11am - 2pm on the Parade.

Tuesday 20 February

On Campus

  • #MakeADifference Celebrate our amazing volunteers, and find out about current volunteering opportunities in our area. 11am - 2pm on the Parade.
  • Volunteering Fair - Meet lots of student groups and charities:
    V Team - Bath Marrow – Food Drop – Time2Share – Healthwatch B&NES – We Care And Repair – Dorothy House – Nightline – RAG – British Heart Foundation – Peer Mentoring & PAL - Macmillan. 11am - 2pm on the Parade.

Off Campus

  • Dig for victory: Help prepare the Life Project's Oldfield Park allotment for the spring. 10am - 12:30pm. Please sign up in advance for this opportunity.
  • Inspire young minds with STEM: Help devise and fill four or five 'junior scientist fun suitcases' with 'wow' STEM activities which will be taken to local schools. 1-5pm at the Bath Royal Literary and Scientific Institution, Queen Square. REARRANGED TO WEDNESDAY 21ST FEBRUARY ONLY

Wednesday 21 February

On Campus

  • Letters of love: Write letters to children suffering from terminal illness. 11:45am - 1:15pm in The Edge Music Studio. No sign-up required.

Off Campus

  • Inspire young minds with STEM: Help devise and fill four or five 'junior scientist fun suitcases' with 'wow' STEM activities which will be taken to local schools. 1-5pm at the Bath Royal Literary and Scientific Institution, Queen Square. FULLY BOOKED [if interested email volunteers@bath.ac.uk]
  • Help Bath Stroke Support Group: Join regular volunteers to help at a weekly meeting, in Chelwood Community Centre, Bath. 2 - 4pm. FULLY BOOKED.
  • Walcot Warriors: 7-8:15pm. Come along and join Bath Rugby Foundation with the mixed-ability rugby group. Please sign up in advance for this opportunity.

Thursday 22 February

On campus

  • Knitting for RUH: Join KnitSoc to knit some baby hats for the maternity ward in the RUH. 5.15 - 7.05pm in CB 3.6. No sign-up required.

Off Campus

  • Food for those in need: Help the Bath Foodbank to sort donations in their warehouse. 10am-1.30pm. FULLY BOOKED.

Friday 23 February

On Campus

  • Multicultural Market: Learn about different cultures represented in the SU's Faith and Cultural societies through food, games and music. 11am - 2pm on the Parade.

Off Campus

  • Supporting the elderly: Join elderly residents from Stratton House care home on a trip to Hope Nature Centre, assisting them in fully accessing the site. 10am-4pm. Please sign up in advance for this opportunity. 

Saturday 24 February

On Campus

  • Get crafty: Help Time2Share with a craft session for disabled children and young people. 2 - 4pm at The Edge. FULLY BOOKED.

Off Campus

  • Make a tasty brew: Help Gay West at their Rainbow Cafe. 10:30am-12:30pm St Michael's Day Centre. FULLY BOOKED.

Sunday 25 February

Off Campus

  • Dig for victory: Help Vegmead Community Group to prepare some of their plots for spring. 11am-2pm. FULLY BOOKED.
