Equipment Development Project

Aditya Garg, PhotoSoc's Inclusivity and Welfare Officer, initiated the Equipment Development Project in 2023/4 intending to improve access to photography equipment for all community members, regardless of their economic status. This project encompasses various initiatives such as acquiring new equipment, updating the rental program, clarifying damage policies, and ensuring equitable regulations. Its overarching objective is to establish a lasting solution for easy access to high-quality photography gear.

Securing financial support through funding applications from the Alumni Fund and the Societies Membership Fund has been crucial for the project. These funds have been allocated to key areas, including drone photography exploration, procurement of new camera bodies and lenses, and enhancement of portable studio lighting equipment.

Furthermore, the project looks forward to introducing mirrorless cameras in the future, expanding the equipment range. To sustain operations and ensure affordability, a nominal fee structure has been implemented for equipment rentals.

Overall, the Equipment Development Project represents PhotoSoc's commitment to promoting inclusivity and innovation within the university community by making photography accessible to all.
