About the Club

University of Bath Handball Club was founded in 2007 and has grown ever since raking in new members every year. We are one of the most diverse clubs, made up of men and women not only from the UK but all over the world (with a lot of French frogs hoping about it has to be said). But most importantly, we cater for a wide range of abilities, from people who have never heard of the sport before, to ex-national players.

We have two Men's teams entered into the South West Development League, the first team is our more experienced team made up of people who have played the sport before. Whereas our second team includes players with little to no experience coming into uni. Keeping in mind that there is always the opportunity to move from team to team and that in training there is little differentiation allowing for a fun social environment rid of hierarchy.

We have only one women’s team, our Women's 1st Team, founded six seasons ago and has gone from strength to strength in such a short time together. Last season the Women’s team got to the semi-finals of the National Cup, proving that, despite a whole load of newcomers, team work is at the core of our handball community. The Women's 1st Team will be competing in the South Women Regional Development League, the British University Handball Championship and the England Handball National Cup.

If you want to play competitive handball then you can. The Club will always ensure that those who want to play competitively get the opportunity to do so. If you're familiar with handball and you're playing at a high standard, you can begin to compete for places in the 1st Teams straight away. If you have never heard of handball before, do not worry, the ‘veterans’ will ensure that you feel comfortable and are enjoying playing before any kind of competitive involvement.

Membership

Membership costs £35 which includes an SU Sports membership.

If you are playing competitively as part of one of our Teams we will sometimes ask you to contribute small amounts towards transport as we are a small club with a small budget. All members of the University of Bath Handball Club will be able to purchase our official kit for 2018/19 season, designed exclusively for the club by our official kit suppliers Surridge.

For help with purchasing membership or any other queries, email su-handball@bath.ac.uk or message us on Facebook/send a tweet on Twitter to speak directly to the committee.

Socials & Events

Our social events play a vital role in bringing the team closer together - it's important to get to know each other on and off the court!

Socials are arranged throughout the year by the Club's Social Secretary, Emma Steggles. Our nights out are legendary and help members get to know each other better in an informal environment, whether at Score on Wednesdays, team meals or post-training ventures down into town.

It's not just what we do on the court but off the court too that makes us such a fun Club to be part of.
