Like every sports club at Bath, the UBKC is run by a keen and dedicated group of students - each elected by fellow club members. You can catch us at training and competitions, and we are your points of contact for any club-related queries or issues. The UBKC committee for the 2020/21 academic year are:
Hi, I'm Billie and I am a final year Psychology student and this year's Chair! My role involves overseeing the club, any activities and socials and ensuring everything runs smoothly as well as being a friendly face for members to approach with any questions.
I started karate in my first year at Bath, having never done a martial art before and have now progressed to a green belt. I love the club and the sense of community, and it's been a huge part of my University life. I would really hope that any new members (whether you have or haven't done karate before) would get just as much out of the club as I have.
Hi, I’m Seb, a Maths postgraduate and the current Vice-Chair for the club! It is my job to assist and aid the rest of committee with the general running of the club with any tasks deemed necessary.
I have done karate for 7 years and have since earned 1st Dan black belt. I joined the club in my second year of undergrad and have continued to be a member ever since!
Hi, I'm Nicole, a second year biology student. As Women's Captain, I'll be organising competitions and motivating you during training and matches.
I'd like to encourage everyone to step out of their comfort zone and try something new, whether you're a kata pro or total beginner. Having started karate last year, I've learnt a lot from the rest of the club and I hope you can have the same experience too.
Hi! I'm Martine, a second year Chemical Engineering student and this year's secretary! I joined Karate last year and am currently on my red belt. My job involves sorting licenses for competitions and gradings, and organising committee meetings. Can't wait to meet you all!
Hi, I'm Orin and I'm a second year International Development with Economics student and also this year's Social Secretary. I only started karate last year and am currently on my red belt.
My job is to organise all the clubs socials (so yes I have the best job). No matter the circumstances this year I aim to make (especially) newcomers feel welcomed and involved and make sure everyone has a good time.
Hi, I'm Adam, a second year Mech Eng student. I currently hold the position of Treasurer on the committee. My role is to look after the club's finances, ensuring we stick to our budget.
Since starting Karate last year, I've loved every minute and have had the chance to represent Bath at BUCS. I'm really looking forward to seeing lots of old and new faces next year.
Welfare and Inclusivity Officer
Hello there! I’m Nick, a 2nd year Physics student and the current welfare and inclusivity officer. I joined the UBKC in my first year as a novice whilst in search of a fun, friendly yet challenging activity and have since made some great friends at the club.
As for my role, I'll be there to answer your questions about anything or just to have a chat and have fun. I have lived in France and Switzerland, so French karate-enthusiasts are also welcomed to expose my flawed accent. See you on the mat!
If you have any questions or concerns, have a look at some frequently asked questions or pop us an email. You can also message a committee member directly (via email or Facebook) as we'll be more than happy to help!
