Coach Education Subsidy

The coach education subsidy gives students the opportunity to apply for reimbursement towards coaching/officiating courses. All subsidies are given on a case-by-case basis and funding is not guaranteed.

Who can apply?

Individuals that can demonstrate that the completion of this qualification will help aid the development of any of the following areas of SU Sport can apply:

  • Club Sport
  • Social Sport
  • Recreational Sport
  • BUCS

What you can apply for 

  • NGB Level 1 or Level 2 qualifications 
  • Officials training – i.e. umpire, referee and scoring or table officials courses* 
  • Funding may also be available for Leadership awards and other generic volunteer development courses such as Sports Coach UK workshops 
  • *To be agreed with SU Sport on a case-by-case basis. 

Eligibility

  • An existing University of Bath student 
  • An existing SU Sport membership holder 
  • Committed to volunteer time back to Students’ Union Sport through their own club and/or SU Sport. 
  • Be committed to attending and completing the course. Proof of qualification is required after completion of the course (Individuals who don’t attend or complete the course will have to repay in full any subsidiary received). 
  • Proof of volunteering 20 hours of coaching/officiating post-qualification (this can be done in the same or following academic year but can only be counted once you are qualified). 
  • If you are on a Tier 4/Student Visa, please come and talk to us before completing the application form 

Terms and Conditions 

  • Must be an SU Sport member 
  • The SU can only reimburse individuals after proof of qualification or payment confirmation of acceptance onto course. 
  • If the conditions are not met the SU reserves the right to refuse to reimburse individuals at The SU Sport’s discretion. 
  • Please note that no money will be reimbursed without receipts, subsidies are awarded for courses only and no money can be reclaimed for travel or accommodation costs. 
  • All applications will be assessed on a case-by-case basis by the SU Sports office. Applicants will be informed of results of their application within 3 weeks of their application. 
  • Applications from final year students will only be accepted if the application form has been submitted before the end of November. 
  • Individuals can only apply for a maximum of 1 NGB Level 1 or Level 2 course during one academic year (including official’s courses).

Once you have applied you should hear from us within 3 weeks. If your application has been successful you must fill in the volunteer agreement to log your volunteer hours. 

 

All applications must be submitted between 1 August and 30 June to be eligible for funding for that academic year.
