Rep of the Month is for back 2023-24! We wanted to share the reasons why these Reps were chosen to be Rep of the Month for January.

Undergraduate - Jess Lighterness (International Management & Modern Languages)

"Jess is 2nd year Rep for International Management and Modern Languages (GIMML) and has been a very active & engaged rep this year, at both the PoLIS and SOM SSLC's! Jess recognised that the entire IMML Year 2 cohort would benefit from having professional headshot photos taken for their study abroad and placement year applications, so she went out of her way to contact the University Print Services team and organise some slots where students could have a headshot taken. Jess negotiated the price to make it as affordable as possible for students, she has provided all the admin for this initiative, and promoted it among her cohort - I'm really impressed with her commitment, energy, and effort shown! On top of this, Jess has volunteered to act a a student representative on an additional committee, the PoLIS Learning, Teaching and Quality Committee. Jess has supported new 1st year GIMML Reps and has been proactive in reaching out to them to offer advice as they navigate their new role. I feel very lucky to be able to work with an Academic Rep as proactive and professional as Jess!"

Postgraduate Taught - Arina Tsai (MSc Strategic Retailing)

"Our course Rep, Arina Tsai, should undoubtedly be recognized as Rep of the Month for their incredible contributions to the Strategic Retailing course. Her efforts have not only greatly enhanced our academic experience but have also fostered a supportive and collaborative community within our class. She has shown an unwavering commitment to our concerns and feedback. She has been a pillar of support during the transition to a more hybrid learning model, ensuring that both online and in-person students had equal access to resources and learning opportunities. Her ability to listen attentively, act decisively, and communicate effectively with faculty and students alike has not only resolved potential issues swiftly but has also enhanced the learning experience for everyone involved. For these reasons and many more, Arina Tsai's recognition as Rep of the Month would be a fitting acknowledgment of their hard work, dedication, and the tangible positive impact they have made on our course. Their passion and leadership have not only benefited us academically but have also set an excellent example of what a dedicated Rep can achieve. Arina Tsai's efforts have truly made a difference, and it would be wonderful to see them receive the accolades they deserve for their exceptional service to our Strategic Retailing course."

Doctoral - Raida Al-Zu'bi (Social & Policy Sciences)

"Raida has worked hard to represent and improve the experience of professional doctorate students. She has been incredibly active in building and promoting a community across her course and the university, working with other students and the doctoral college to set up a cross-discipline writing group to for her fellow students. Always sensitive to engaging all of her cohort, she has actively involved other students during each stage of this groups development, running scheduled events at different times to enable remote students in different time zones to attend events."

Congratulations to these students for their exceptional work and for winning a Rep of the Month mug and a LinkedIn recommendation.
