Academic Council

Academic Councils are huge, exciting meetings where we gather together all undergraduate and postgraduate taught academic representatives. During these meetings, we hear updates from the Education and Postgraduate officers and reps will be invited to comment on current issues and raise any share discussions and outcomes from their Staff Student Liaison Committee meetings.

We also hold a separate council for Doctoral students. You can read about what is discussed in those meetings here

  • Assessment and Feedback The National Student Survey (NSS) is an annual survey co-ordinated by the Office for Students which asks all undergraduate final year students in UK higher education institutions about their experience of learning and teaching. Part of this survey focuses on how effective the University is at assessment and feedback. Over the years this score has been slowly declining. Polly McGuigan, Chair of the Assessment and Feedback working group, is going to join us so we can discuss and explore what is working well and what we would like to see improved around how the feedback of assessment is created and communicated
  • Online Feedback Tool to Support Academic Reps The SU is exploring creating a Feedback tool which would enable students to give feedback which would then be sent to their reps to action. We want to hear how you think a tool would help you and how you might like it to work.
