Look After Your Mate is a Student Minds workshop, helping people support their friends, co-workers or peers experiencing mental health difficulties, whilst looking after their own wellbeing.
Have you ever felt overwhelmed trying to navigate your work, university life and personal commitments? We get it, and know how important it is to have friends around who can support you. We also know it can be challenging to support a friend with their mental health.
This workshop is a chance to explore the challenges of supporting someone else and build your knowledge and skills to do this with confidence.
The expert facilitators from Student Support and SU Advice Team, have worked with students for many years and will discuss the following with you:
- How to understand mental health, the challenges and the support available.
- Tools for supporting a friend or colleague experiencing difficulties.
- Tools to understand your own wellbeing and how to look after yourself.
Blake, our Community Officer, recently interviewed one of the facilitators about the workshop. Read their conversation on this link: You can’t pour from an empty cup. (thesubath.com)
