The University of Bath is investing in fossil fuels and arms companies.
As a wealthy and influential institution with a mission to advance knowledge and create a better future, our university should be leading the way on justice and sustainability. Instead, its investments are helping to fuel climate breakdown, inequality, and global conflict.
Across the UK, many other universities have already divested from fossil fuels and arms. Bath is being left behind.
The investment policy is up for renewal this year giving us a crucial chance to create change - and you can drive that change.
Join us CB 3.5 on Monday 13th October at 4.15 for a session with SOS-UK where you will:
- Understand the systems of oppression upheld by the finance system and the role universities play in this.
- Learn how universities can improve their investments.
- Have the opportunity to participate in a discussion to identify a list of 'asks' to share with the university to implement during the policy update (due in spring 2026).
The event is being organised jointly by UCU, Unite, and students, bringing staff and students together to demand change. After the talk, we’ll hold a planning meeting to launch a campaign for divestment and reinvestment this year. No prior knowledge is needed.
