Summer Volunteering

Summer Volunteering 2021

Wherever you are this Summer you might fancy doing a bit of volunteering alongside your other plans. There are huge benefits for both you and the local community. As covid restrictions gradually lift, there are more varied Volunteering Opportunities coming our way. From marshalling at a Junior Parkrun, to helping plant trees, or spending a few hours in community charity shops chatting with the locals (and eyeing some interesting charity finds!)

Wellbeing
Research shows again and again how volunteering benefits our wellbeing. Giving your time for something that’s important to you and benefits others, directly improves your happiness, social connections and sense of achievement.

Employability
Extra-curricular activities such as volunteering give you hands-on experience and new skills that are really valuable to prospective employers. Give yourself the edge in interviews by talking about how you worked as part of a team, brought value to your local community, or picked up competency or expertise in areas un-related to your degree subject. These add to an all-rounded picture that make you a real asset as an employee.
