Details

To assist the Chaplains to provide support and care, space and prayer in the heart of the Campus. To help foster a working relationship between the Chaplaincy Centre and those who use it. To welcome students to the Chaplaincy Centre: particularly those wishing to explore questions of faith, peace and justice & to offer a listening ear to all.

Day to day line management is provided by the University Chaplain. Other line management is provided by the Chaplaincy Coordinator.

Special Conditions

There is the opportunity to develop your Christian Faith through supporting the chaplains at prayer meetings and formal services. For a suitable person there may also be the opportunity to lead prayer stations. Study: some time is reserved each week for 1:1 Bible study – using Tom Wright’s commentaries.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  1. To be available to assist with Chaplaincy weekly events.

  2. To help foster good working relationships between the Chaplains and the student groups who use the Chaplaincy Centre.

  3. To be available to support Chaplains at Chaplaincy & Bath University Interfaith Community events, including during Welcome Week and the University Carol Service in Bath Abbey. 

  4. To attend Chaplaincy Management Committee meetings once a semester.

  5. Working with the chaplains and the Chaplaincy Coordinator to ensure the kitchen meets health and safety standards and ensure the Chapel/main room’s layout is maintained.

You will from time to time be required to undertake other duties of a similar nature as reasonably required by your line manager. You are required to follow University policies and procedures and take account of university guidance.
