Reports to: Democracy & Change Manager

Collaborates with:  Students’ Officers, SU Voice Team

About the Role

Are you passionate about creating positive change and standing up for international students? Univerity of Bath SU is looking for an International Community Organiser to help lead campaigns and advocacy work that ensure international students’ voices are heard and acted upon.

You will build and strengthen our international student community by bringing students together, gathering evidence on their experiences, and working alongside our elected student leaders to campaign for change both within the University and beyond.

This role is all about turning student concerns into action – from running international student roundtables, to presenting evidence to decision-makers, to lobbying for better policies and support. If you care about equality, inclusion, and student empowerment, this is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference.

What You’ll Do

  • Community Building: Organise international student roundtables, forums, and workshops to identify key issues, challenges, and opportunities.

  • Evidence Gathering: Collect and analyse feedback, survey data, and testimonies from international students to build a strong, evidence-based case for change.

  • Campaigning & Lobbying: Develop and deliver advocacy campaigns to influence university policies and practices; prepare briefings to support lobbying efforts at institutional and national levels.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with the Community Students’ Officer, SU Voice Team, and wider Bath SU staff to align campaigns with student needs and SU priorities.

  • Student Representation: Champion international student issues in university committees, consultations, and wider forums.

  • Communications: Create accessible resources, reports, and campaign updates to keep students informed and engaged.

  • Empowerment: Support international students to develop their own advocacy and leadership skills through involvement in SU democracy and campaigns.

What We’re Looking For

  • Passion for campaigning, advocacy, and social justice.

  • Strong interest in issues affecting international students.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to bring people together.

  • Organised, proactive, and able to manage projects from start to finish.

  • Comfortable with research, data collection, and turning evidence into actionable insights.

  • A team player who enjoys collaboration but also confident working independently.

What You’ll Gain

  • Hands-on experience in campaigning, lobbying, and advocacy.

  • The opportunity to work alongside elected student leaders and Bath SU staff.

  • Skills in community organising, research, project management, and communications.

  • A chance to make a tangible impact on the lives of international students at Bath.
