International Women's Day
When: Thursday 8 March 2012
Where: Everywhere
What: International Women's Day (8 March) is a global day celebrating the economic, political and social achievements of women past, present and future. In some places like China, Russia, Vietnam and Bulgaria, International Women's Day is a national holiday.
Why: Suffragettes campaigned for women's right to vote. The word 'Suffragette' is derived from the word "suffrage" meaning the right to vote. International Women's Day honours the work of the Suffragettes, celebrates women's success, and reminds of inequities still to be redressed. The first International Women's Day event was run in 1911

Ethical and Environmental Update
David Cameron
So hopefully you have seen the posters that have been updated to remind you where to recycle all of your rubbish including things that you may not be aware that we recycle, like stamps! We are also working on getting a small box in the Resource Room to collect CDs and DVDs for recycling. You should also remember to recycle anything no matter how obscure - take mobile phones for instance, either the porters can take them or you could get cash for it using an online recycling firm!
You should also remember to turn off the lights and computers that you use as you go and not leave them on all night. Turning off monitors and computers overnight can save £100 per person over a year! Think of the savings! You should also remember to turn the lights off as you leave rooms, particularly your offices before going to meetings, as this can be very inefficient due to the heat that is lost when producing the light.
