A fantastic start to the year for RAG as they raise over £7500

RAG has made a fantastic start to the year raising over £7500 from a series of events since September.

Lola Harris and Alice Denman organised the first RAG event, Kennel Break on 13 November to support Bath Cats and Dogs Home. Marina Abraham, Community & Events Fundraiser said of the event. “The team endured two hours of freezing cold to raise important money for the cats and dogs in our care who have often sadly been abandoned, mistreated or neglected. Their brilliant fundraising will help us to keep these animals safe and cosy over the cold winter months until we can find them new loving homes. Thank you!”

The whole RAG team worked hard to sell tickets for Fireworks at the Rec, provided volunteers for this fantastic community celebration and raised over £2500. This event raises money for RAG's Big Four Charities: Great Western Air Ambulance, Wicked Weather Watch, Bath Samaritans and Genesis Trust.

On Friday 22 November RAG students took part in 'Sleep Out'. RAG Reps Oasis Mignot, Chiara Andreotti and Niamh Forster organised the event on the Parade to raises awareness of homelessness and funds for Julian House. Participants using our newly launched online fundraising platform with Virgin MoneyGiving raised over £1500.

Jessica Gay, Julian House Senior Community and Events Fundraiser said; "The students worked really hard to create and deliver their event in less than a month. Despite the harsh conditions, they had a fantastic turn out and raised over £1500. The awareness and funds raised from their Sleep-Out is invaluable. It'll mean we can continue supporting men and women across the city who are less fortunate and who are forced to sleep rough every night. Something, that at this time of year can be life threatening. So thank you!"

Lyam England, RAG Chair says; “It’s a pleasure to see that so many of our students wanted to show their support to Julian House. Homelessness is something we can’t ignore in Bath and students are really starting to understand their role in combatting the problem.”

There are many more fundraising activities booked for 2020 and we're excited to see what happens next. Huge thanks to all of our students who have taken part in all of the events to date.
