Bath & North East Somerset Council is seeking wider feedback on a potential residents’ parking zone for the Southdown and Moorlands area.
Bath & North East Somerset (B&NES) Council is seeking wider feedback on a potential residents’ parking zone (RPZ) for the Southdown and Moorlands area. An RPZ is a designated area where on-street parking is controlled, and eligible residents can buy permits to park.
Ward councillors have heard from residents expressing significant issues related to parking, including how hard it is to find parking near to their home. The Oldfield Park and Westmoreland RPZ could be displacing vehicles to the area, and there is also competition for space from commuters and visitors to Oldfield Park station, local schools, and shops.
Before deciding whether a more formal consultation is appropriate, B&NES would like to know how the community, which includes students, feel about introducing an RPZ to tackle these issues and the size of the zone should it prove popular.
Please review the map of the proposed areas, and read this document and the web page with additional information. Complete the online survey before Monday 21 July 2025 at 17:00.
To complete the survey, go to www.bathnes.gov.uk/southdownRPZ.
If the principal of a zone proves popular among residents, the council would seek opinion on a draft design next year, ensuring the right size and a mix of bays to cater for all the community.
