Last year, BURBAN took on Transcendance! UCL Transcendance Competition is a yearly inter-University dance competition hosted by UCL. BURBAN (Bath break and urban dance society) participated in three categories: Intermediate Hip Hop, Trios and Solos.
Burban has an outstanding freestyle talent in Iwan Powell who displayed his skills fully on stage in a two-minute urban freestyle, the only freestyle performance of the night, garnering high scores from all judges, just missing out on a podium position. Well done Iwan!
Choreographed by Ciaran Sanford and performed with Nefeli Karonis and Kinkit Wong, this piece had minimal training time due to the group hip hop performance. Intermediate Hip Hop
A team of 15 amateur dancers, most of whom with less than a year’s dance experience, chosen by choreographers Kinkit Wong and Nefeli Karonis trained 12 hours a week for a month to create a performance which payed homage to dance crews that inspired them such as the Kinjaz and Jabbawockeez. They were able to win 2nd place behind ‘Queen Mary University’.
