What We Do

Witamy! Welcome to the Polish Society!

Our society brings together Poles, people with some Polish heritage, and people who are simply interested in our culture.

This year the bulk of our events will be social events (which we try to run weekly) and celebrations of some of the more original Polish festivities. When it's deemed safe by the Government and the University we will meet in person  -for now, we will be concentrated on online activities such as playing computer and card games together and online cooking tutorials. Last year we also organized a trip to Cardiff to meet fellow Polish students from our region of Great Britain - we hope to organize such trips as soon as possible, and the best way to stay informed is to be a member of our society!

We are also active in the general Polish student community and we will be more than happy if you decide to join us in attending any of the student conferences or congresses. Those activities will provide you with a better understanding of Polish culture as well as the political and economic situation in Eastern Europe.

We invite you to join us and look forward to meeting you!

Reasons to Join Us

Do you want to learn about Poland and its culture? Maybe you’ve got some Polish heritage that your grandparents went on about and you want to get a new perspective? Or you happened to visit Poland during your holiday, were confused by what you’ve seen and need some explanations? If the answer to any of those questions is ‘YES’, then the PolishSoc is the place for you!

Pierogi. Trust me. Look it up if you really need to. It’s worth joining just for the taste of some fried pierogi. Oh, and the paczki don’t hurt either.

The socials. Yeah, we all know the stereotype of the zealous catholic Pole and drinking – only by joining our society will you learn how wrong and outdated it is. We guarantee that you will have a lot of fun, whether you prefer to taste some of the many Polish alcoholic beverages or not.

It’s (almost) free. This Semester (Semester 1 2020/2021) you can access all societies for just £3 - why not give us a go?

When you “buy” our membership you will get access to our Microsoft Teams group where most of our online events take place. We will also add you to our Facebook Messenger group, where we will keep you posted on our current activities.

If you have any questions don’t hesitate to email us at or contact any of the committee members directly, and we will try to respond as soon as possible.
