The Race Equality Group aims to ensure that all students, regardless of race, religion or ethnic background, feel empowered and supported to make the most of their experience at the University of Bath. We work, in particular, to ensure that students from ethnic minority groups are represented across the university, given equal opportunities to succeed, and have access to inclusive spaces. We also aim to provide such a space.

We are fortunate to live in a city that attracts people from all over the world to live and study, so it’s important that when students arrive in Bath they feel welcomed: that they can be proud of their culture and not face discrimination.

However, at our university, like many others, underlying racial differences can lead to poor integration, harassment and an attainment gap for BME students in higher education.

We want to stop that. We want to end the casual displays of ignorance and racism that remain a reality of the experiences of many on our campus.

We want to educate people about real diversity, real culture, and real change.

If you’re interested, please feel free to come along to one of our events or sign up to our group. Everyone is welcome.
