What does the course involve?
The Eating Difficulties group consists of 4 weekly sessions, where we informally discuss issues surrounding eating difficulties, and share experiences around the recovery process.
The course begins on Thursday 20th February from 17:15 - 18:30 in CB 3.11, running for 4 weeks at the same time and place, finishing on March 12th.
The facilitators for this course are; Louise Morgan; Mila Lytherao and Jess Carson
If you have any issues or questions, please email firstname.lastname@example.org
Who runs the course?
Each course session will be informally run by two student volunteers, called ‘group facilitators’ who will work through the material with you. They are there to make sure that there is time to cover the workbook content, and to ensure that conversations remain supportive and non-judgmental.
All group facilitators have received training for their role, however it is important to stress that they are not trained counsellors or professionals and are not there to provide advice.
Who is the course suitable for?
This course has been designed to support students who are experiencing or are recovering from eating difficulties or an eating disorder, however this course will not talk about eating habits or your relationship with food explicitly. Eating difficulties are often a coping strategy to manage difficult psychological challenges, so this course will focus on these psychological challenges and trying out strategies to identify and address these issues.
This course is not an alternative to professional support, and we always recommend seeking support from as wider support network as possible, including your GP.
What do I need to bring?
All you need to bring is yourself! In session 1, we will provide you with workbooks which you are welcome to take away with you at the end of the session. We do ask that, if you do take it away, you bring it with you to the following session.
I don’t want others to know I attend these sessions…
Don’t worry! All of our group facilitators have agreed to a strict confidentiality policy. This means that we will not discuss attendees outside of the sessions and we will not reveal any details of what is discussed to anyone without your consent (including staff members). The sign in sheet will be destroyed at the end of each session. We are committed to making this group a safe, comfortable space for anyone who wishes to attend.
