The event
Night hike is our annual event where we go for a nice walk/run on a wild goose chase around the local countryside, in the middle of the night. Much like an orienteering score event, we have multiple checkpoints in the area, with varying numbers of points available for each checkpoint. The aim of the game is to get as many points as possible, in the time available.

Each team will be provided with a map and compass, and given 30 minutes before leaving to plan their route.

There will be a manned checkpoint where teams will be able to top up on water, and get some snacks.

Your team is strongly encouraged (but not required) to wear fancy dress.

On returning to the hut, there will be prizes for the best walking team, best running team, and best costume.

When
The event is running overnight between Saturday the 21st of March and Sunday the 22nd. Teams can arrive and start between 20:00 and 22:00, where you will have 30 minutes to plan and 6 hours to get as many points as possible!

Where
We will be using the Bradford-on-Avon guides HQ ( address below ) as the base for this event. You will need to make your own way there, however it is fairly close to the station and the trains are fairly regular from Bath Spa and Oldfield Stations. Checkpoints will be located in the surrounding areas, and the event will take place on a variety of terrain including roads, canal paths and footpaths.

Address: 18 Rosemary Walk, Church Street, Bradford-on-Avon, BA15 1LN

Gear
For walkers, sturdy boots and a torch are a must, along with warm clothes and waterproofs, which can be borrowed off the club if required.
For runners, trail shoes, a head torch, and an ultra running bag are recommended, along with sufficient fuelling, as 6 hours is a long time to be running!!

Both teams will also require a compass which can be provided if necessary.

Additionally, we would request everyone who wishes to participated gets the what3words app, which can be found here https://what3words.com/products/what3words-app. This will make it much easier for us to locate you in the unlikely event there is an incident.

You should also ensure that your team has enough power banks to keep phones charged

For those of you who buy the product which includes accomodation, you may want to bring a change of clothes, a sleeping bag, and a roll mat. These items and can also be borrowed from the club and left in the hut while you participate in the event.

Tracking
As a first for this year, we will be using Traccar to track teams, and keep them safe as they complete the event. At least 1 team member will be required to download the traccar client app, preferably before the event. Help and information on how to setup the app will be available on the night of the event.

We will have first aiders in cars who will be able to respond to any incidents, or collect teams if they encounter a serious issue.

Teams
Team sizes are dependant on how you choose to compete in the event:
For runners, teams can have 2-6 members.
For walkers, teams can have 4-6 members.

Please feel free to use the Walking or Running WhatsApp chats to find team members

Once you have organised a team, please fill in your team details in the spreadsheet:

Signups
Signups for this event work a bit differently to other walking events; we have 2 products:

Night Hike 26 - Accomodation and Breakfast (£3.50)
Night Hike 26 - Event Only (£1.50)

Unfortunately, the size of the accomodation means we can only offer 50 accomodation and breakfast products, so to increase the number of people who can take part, we have added 25 event only products. Please note, there are no trains back to Bath at this time (~4am) so you will be required to organise your own transport back to Bath if you buy the event only product.

Please do not buy a product if you have not organised a team!

Tickets will go on sale at 11AM on Monday 23rd, so start organising your teams!

Survey
Once you have bought the product, please fill in the following survey:
