Details

We are looking for a caring and enthusiastic Personal Assistant to support L, an energetic and creative 11-year-old with Autism.

About the Role

This role is primarily about companionship—spending quality time with L doing the things he enjoys: drawing, going to the park, watching films, playing on his iPad, and riding around in the car while listening to music (he loves a good playlist made by his carers). L is a sociable and affectionate young man who often refers to his carers as “friends”—he loves building bonds with the people around him.

L usually takes a few essentials with him when going out: his change bag (he’s very sensory-aware and dislikes being wet or having food on his clothes), his LCD drawing pad, and of course, his beloved Sooty puppet. Sooty plays a special role—he’s a kind of “non-verbal negotiator” who will nod in agreement to gently encourage Lincoln when needed.

You’ll be someone who is warm, inclusive, and mindful of individual needs, with the confidence and initiative to support L in a way that’s engaging, respectful, and fun.

Requirements

  • A full UK driving licence and access to your own transport
  • A current DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check
  • Experience with or understanding of Autism is desirable but not essential

Flexibility

While Tuesdays and Thursdays are preferred, we’re open to discussing other days/times that work for you and L.
