About Somerset State Basketball Club

Somerset State Basketball Club is one of the fastest-growing grassroots basketball programmes in the region. We are dedicated to providing high-quality coaching, supporting young players from Year 3 to Year 11 (ages 7–16), and creating a fun, safe, and developmental environment where players can thrive.

Role Overview

We are looking for passionate and motivated Lead Coaches to join our Midsomer Norton coaching centre. Lead Coaches will plan and deliver high-quality sessions, support player development, and help us grow the club across Somerset.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead engaging, structured basketball sessions for children aged 7–16
• Create a safe, fun, and inclusive coaching environment
• Support player progression and enjoyment at all levels
• Work alongside coaches and support staff to maintaining session quality
• Be a role model for young players, demonstrating professionalism and enthusiasm

Requirements

• A minimum of Level 1 Coaching Certificate in Basketball or another sport (or willingness to obtain – support available)
• Experience coaching children in a sports environment
• Safeguarding, DBS Check, and First Aid (or willingness to obtain – support available)
• Strong communication and leadership skills
• Commitment to child welfare and positive coaching practices
