The Skills Centre is recruiting three Student Co-Creators (SCCs) to work with the Digital and Academic Skills Team to support the development, enhancement and promotion of skills provision through a range of exciting new projects.
These roles offer an opportunity to bring the student perspective into the design and promotion of skills resources, platforms and communications. You will work in partnership with staff to research student needs, co-create content, review resources and support student-facing messaging. You will also have the opportunity to develop skills in digital resource creation, research, marketing and communications and project management.
Each Student Co-Creators will be aligned to one of the three skills domains i.e., Academic Skills, Digital Skills or Employability Skills, and will work with the team on new projects including:
- Digital Skills: Supporting the development of a new student-led Generative AI (GenAI) Hub, helping to shape its purpose, structure and content. The Hub will focus on ethical, accessible and critically informed use of GenAI and digital tools for academic, workplace and lifelong learning.
- Academic Skills: Reviewing and enhancing academic skills provision, with a particular focus on MySkills. This includes identifying gaps, developing new content, and contributing to emerging themes such as sustainability and transferable academic skills relevant across disciplines.
- Employability Skills: Shaping how students engage with the My Employability Profile platform and supporting its development so students can reflect on, evidence and articulate their skills development.
We are looking for students who are organised, reliable, and interested in skills development, digital tools, employability and the student experience. Once you have read the criteria, please complete the online application form by 8 February 2026.
The Role
The role aims to support your personal and professional development, helping you to build confidence, capability and a clear understanding of the value of student engagement work. While each role has a specific skill focus, all student co-creators will be working with the Digital and Academic Skills team on a variety of tasks contributing across core activity areas:
Research
You will gather student feedback, identify needs and explore best practice to understand how the Skills Centre can engage with a diverse range of students. This may include surveys, interviews, focus groups and other research activities.
Development and Creation
You will co-create student-informed resources and content, contributing to the development of innovative and creative digital materials. This will include brainstorming ideas, providing feedback and creating digital resources.
Review
You will review, test and evaluate resources, web content and social media, providing feedback to improve platforms and provision. This includes engaging with existing review processes and contributing to the development of new ones.
Communications and Marketing
You will support student-facing messaging to promote Skills Centre provision. This may include developing blogs, vlogs and other marketing content for university webpages and social media, as well as supporting communication planning.
Accessibility and Inclusivity
Across all activities, you will help identify barriers to accessing skills support and contribute to improving accessibility and inclusivity of resources and platforms.
Additional considerations
You will be expected to meet agreed deadlines and contribute to evaluating the success of the role. You are also expected to regularly check MS Teams to stay in touch with Skills Centre colleagues and provide progress updates.
The role is hybrid, with approximately 60% on-campus and 40% remote working, with a schedule agreed with the line manager. During summer months, on-campus attendance will not be required unless previously agreed.
The role is expected to run from March to the end of July 2026, with the potential to extend over the summer.
