The SU Arts team are looking for a number of casual event technicians to provide technical support to SU events on an as-needed basis. Events can include theatre, live music, dance, conferences, and presentations, as well as routine maintenance days.
Working with the SU Arts and Front of House teams, you will:
- set up, program, and control sound, lighting, and/or video as required by the event;
- perform safety checks before and after the event;
- provide cast briefings prior to shows/rehearsals as required;
- work with the Duty Manager to solve issues that may arise;
- other relevant tasks as required and appropriate.
The ideal candidate will have some experience delivering technical support to performance events, though familiarisation with our specific equipment will be provided. A calm demeanour under pressure, good communication skills, team work, and the ability to manage your time to a schedule are desirable qualities.
There are no guaranteed hours for this role – it will form part of an availability pool, with members offered shifts when/if they become available. Shifts may be offered on any day of the week (including weekends) and may have varied hours (including evenings).
A mandatory training session will be arranged for successful candidates, which is required before you can take on shifts. This training is to ensure you are familiar with our processes and where everything is – knowledge and experience of routine industry tasks is expected as training opportunities will be limited.
To apply, please email cjl25@bath.ac.uk with a brief description of your experience and why you feel you would be a good fit for the role.
