Over 60 musicians, one Forum stage and a night of standout student music.
The University of Bath Big Band took Jazz Night up a gear this year, filling The Forum with big sounds, high energy and an impressive showcase of student musicians.
Playing to a packed audience of more than 1,000 in one of Bath’s largest venues, ChaOS’s Big Band brought their distinctive blend of classic jazz, funk, soul and crowd‑pleasing chart arrangements to the city centre. With over 60 musicians on stage, the scale of the performance was impossible to miss.
The night went beyond the Big Band alone. Performances from the String Ensemble and the BUSMS choir highlighted the depth of musical talent across the University, with confident arrangements and seamless changes between sets keeping the momentum going. The final numbers raised things even further, as dancers from the Salsa Society and Latin & Ballroom joined the musicians on stage for a fast‑paced finale that had the audience fully engaged.
For many of the students, performing at The Forum marked a major milestone. Friends, family and staff turned out in force to support them, and the connection between performers was clear throughout the night. The confidence, chemistry and pure joy on stage turned Jazz Night into more than just a concert; it was a full‑on celebration of student music and collaboration.
A huge congratulations from all involved from organisation to performance - it was one hell of a night!
