The first-ever SU Bath World Cup was held this month and saw 15 of our international societies battle it out on the football pitch to prove who the best football nation in Bath is.
The event was hugely successful, with over 500 students attending 39 fixtures over the 2-day tournament to cheer on their favourite teams.
A huge thank you to Official Events for sponsoring the event and to our Activities Officer Viktor and the Activities Exec for bringing the event together. A special mention also goes to URB, CampusTV and Backstage for live streaming and commentating all of the action and interviewing players and supporters. Last but not least, we’re immensely grateful to the referees, student volunteers and every single spectator for all their support!
Massive congratulations go out to Arab Soc for making SU history by winnings its first-ever World Cup! An honorable mention and huge well done goes to the other semi-finalists, Bulgarian Soc, French Soc, and Spanish Soc.
The World Cup was the brainchild of our Activities Officer, Viktor Toshev, who said “It was amazing to see such a huge football celebration between big portion of SU Bath’s International societies. It was one of my biggest aims for this year and it was mine and my teams’ pleasure to organise this event and see such a big involvement from our students”.
