Strictly Come Bath: Dancing for Charity

Heather Clarke

Returning for Two Nights of Dance and Fundraising

Strictly Come Bath was back on 17 April, bringing two nights of dancing, cheering and fundraising to campus. Inspired by Strictly Come Dancing, the event saw committee members from societies across the University say yes to learning a dance from scratch and performing it live, all for charity.

Each couple had two minutes to impress the audience on show night. Votes from the crowd decided the winners, meaning every clap and cheer helped raise money for charity as well as crown the Strictly champions.

From First Meeting to Show Night

The couples first met in the second week of February, which gave them around nine weeks to prepare, including Easter. And for some couples, rehearsals didn’t properly get going until later on till after the national Blackpool competition on 28 February,

With two shows across two nights, audiences were treated to a mix of styles, personalities and performances, keeping the energy high from start to finish.

The Results, the Charities and the Big Win

Because there were two shows, there were two winners and two charities supported.

On Friday night, Hannah and Connor won with their Cha Cha, meaning half of the total profits will be donated to Bath Mind.
Sophie and Angus placed second with their Paso Doble, followed by Dom and Lotte in third.

On Saturday night, Dom and Lotte took the win with their Foxtrot, with the remaining profits going to Breast Cancer UK.
Sophie and Angus came second once again, with Grace and Tanushri finishing third after their Tango.

Beyond the results, weeks of preparation from dancers, organisers and volunteers helped make the event run smoothly and raise over £1,400 for charity.
