You will notice in the upcoming elections there is always a candidate called R.O.N and you might be wondering who R:O:N is!
RON stands for Re-Open Nominations.
It is not a real persion, it’s an important option on the ballot that lets voters say:
"I don’t think any of the current candidates are the right fit, we should reopen the process and allow new people to run".
If RON wins more votes than any candidate within an election, the election for that position will have to run again.
It’s there to help make sure students always have the option to say they’d like different or additional candidates and it helps keep elections fair, democratic, and student‑led.
